We’re absolutely thrilled with an 11:1 vote in favour of the planning application for Weymouth Gateway by LondonMetric Property plc and Avercet Property this morning.
This ringing endorsement was by no means assured. The retail-led (A Class) scheme is proposed for a site allocated for B Class use, so we are really proud of the part we’ve played in engaging with Weymouth and Dorset’s stakeholders to explain the scheme’s merits and influence this outcome. By the time we reached committee, we’d established cross-party political support, and the backing of 100% of the local business groups and almost 90% of residents.
Tom Pinder, Executive Development Manager at LondonMetric Property said, ‘Having been surprised by a formal objection from a seemingly supportive Town Council, we recruited Seaxburh to identify and mobilise influential supporters for our planning application ahead of the Unitary Authority’s planning committee meeting. Niki’s wide-ranging stakeholder engagement, lobbying and communications campaign was absolutely fundamental in turning the tide, achieving overwhelming support from all quarters of the community, and ultimately consent with a decisive vote in favour of our scheme.’
We couldn’t have done this without planning consultants-extraordinaire Montagu Evans, of course, so special shout-out to them, too!
