DEFRA Consults Rural Stakeholders on Farming Future

Seaxburh Partners was delighted to join client Eden Westwood at the Eden Project mothership in Cornwall today, for a consultation event by the Department of Environment, Food and Rural Affairs (DEFRA).

The event was part of a series organised by DEFRA around the country to debate how to create ‘A brighter future for farming and our countryside’. Some 150 people considered issues such as the evolution of rural payment schemes, environmental stewardship, soil restoration and animal welfare, as well as the implication of some of the proposed solutions for mindsets, economics, progression planning and educational standards within the agricultural sphere. More broadly, we discussed how these themes should tie into the broader, post-Brexit future of the country in terms as diverse as wellbeing, education and promoting the UK to the world as a desirable visitor destination.

In all, a highly stimulating day!
