New Petroc Engineering Centre for Mid Devon

We’ve long touted the vision of an ‘Innovation Corridor’ through the South West, that runs from the marine specialism flourishing around the Tamar through the applied environmental science and IT expertise around Exeter, to the medical and nuclear engineering expertise hubs emerging in Somerset. Wherever we can, through our various committees and client projects, we are working hard behind the scenes to do our bit to ensure that historically overlooked pockets of the South West, such as Mid Devon, also benefit from this exciting new economic movement. So, we were particularly delighted to support our local Higher/Further Education College, Petroc, when it opened its new Engineering Centre at its Tiverton campus today.

The College is going from strength to strength, building new educational pathways and apprenticeships with forward-thinking businesses in the area, from local manufacturing successes such as HepcoMotion to international players such as EDF with its strategic Hinkley C nuclear power station construction project. To support this work, it is ploughing significant investment into new facilities. This new Centre joins the recently opened Future Technologies Centre to create a very substantial new platform of opportunity for students of all ages across the region.

Congratulations to the management team and Governors of Petroc.
