Great news for Wessex. Transport Secretary Chris Grayling has today committed £83.1m of government funding to upgrade the North Devon Link Road (A361), which will better connect the North Devon district to the rest of the South West and UK.
The work will concentrate on improving the stretch of road between South Molton and Bideford, including widening three sections of the A361 between Barnstaple and South Molton, to provide two lanes of travel in one direction and a single lane in the other. The additional lane will help provide safer overtaking opportunities on a road known for serious head-on collisions, and consequent delays. In addition to (and because of) the safety benefits, this work will reduce travel times between North Devon and Mid Devon and the M5, opening up new opportunities for leisure and business alike.
